As a future Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) this is an eye-opening story to read. I want to thank you for sharing this because this is something I will take with me when practicing. The fact that the SLP did not think to look further into the situation is disappointing. Your story taught me that when working with children, symptoms that are associated with cluttering may not always be as prominent as a child with an articulation disorder. More importantly, you taught me to always listen to a concerned parent. As the age old saying goes, “mother knows best”. In this matter, you did know best, and I commend you for not giving up and seeking the appropriate help for your son. I am glad to hear he is doing so well! You should be proud! I did have one question. You said your son had stopped seeing an Occupational Therapist; I was wondering why he was seeing one in the first place?
