First of all, I want to say Thank You for sharing your story with us, and giving us insight into your child's story. I know that SLP's in the school system are in high demand, but that by no means gives them the right to not provide the services that are needed. I would like to tell you that I admire your support for your son, and all that you did to get him the sevices that he needed. Parents have to stand up for their children to get them what they do need, and if that is not done, the children may go untreated and their problems may only get worse. I am currently a Speech Pathology student at West Virginia University, and want to one day work with children in the school system. I would love to have input from the parents of the children that I will work with as to what they are seeing at home, and what they think the child is needing. The parents see the chilren every day, where as the SLP may only see them for an hour a week. Thanks again for your story!!
