I am a graduating senior in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I have had an opportunity to observe many children in our local school system and it is obvious that one thing is becoming increasingly more important to today’s youth, TECHNOLOGY; more specifically, the internet! As a student, I can appreciate the use of technology in therapy sessions because it seems that children pay more attention to something that they can relate to. I remember watching a Speech-Language Pathologist in an elementary school use wooden letter blocks to get a child to emphasize targeted sounds. The little girl seemed to want no part in the activity. Then the Speech-Language Pathologist walked her over to a computer and put her on a program where she repeated sounds and syllables and the child was glued to the screen. It seems to me that your program would have the same influence on other children, especially those who are visual learners and can follow along with the words on the screen. It will be interesting to see where this program and other technologies take us in the future!
