I found this article to be very interesting and informational. As a senior Speech Pathology student, I have just finished a course in stuttering. Before taking the class I would not have known that cluttering was a disorder. I only knew about stuttering and that was limited. After reading this article about monitoring feedback, I can relate to a time when monitoring my speech helped me out. When I was younger, I spoke at a very fast pace. I had no idea I was talking so fast. It sounded normal to me but everyone else had trouble understanding what I was saying. It wasn’t until one day that I called home and had to leave a message on the answering machine. When I got home I listened to myself on the recording. From that feedback I was able to hear myself speak and realize that I needed to slow down my rate of speech. I feel that DIVA is a great way to help people who clutter by providing feedback.
