Judy, Emily, Ken, Thanks very much for your comments. Yes, the microphone+camera effect can certainly be an issue! And we need to think about creative ways to elicit the most natural speech possible. In a formal interview situation with a stranger with a microphone, most people (not just people who clutter) will behave in a more formal manner than usual and adjust their speech register accordingly. I've certainly come across this recently with a case of suspected cluttering, when the speaker admitted that she was being very careful and measured in her speech with me and would let go a lot more with her friends. Creating a relatively informal atmosphere would seem to help. One way to do that is not to stick to a script in conducting an interview, but to follow interesting leads in a conversation, just as you would in an every day chat. I am sure that other readers will have thoughts on how to overcome this issue, so I will look forward to more discussion on the topic! Robin
