Hi Lisa, I find that the situation you are describing with your bilingual client is very typical He stuttered when he spoke in Russian for most of his life. During these years, he experienced the motor, cognitive, and affective aspects of stuttering when speaking in Russian. Presently, as a result of three years of therapy in English, his speech and confidence are significantly improved, as I understand it. At this point, I would try to transfer his newly achieved successes in English to his communication in Russian. The fact that you have a Russian speaking graduate student is very fortuitous. It seems to me that such a process takes place with many bilingual PWC who recently immigrated to a country where they have to use a second language. Best wishes, Isabella
