This is a question dealing with one of my student's cases. She is attempting to determine whether the child is speaking at too fast a rate. Are there norms for children between 4 and 8 that have been reported? Also, when determining the number of syllables per minute, can the student add up the child's utterances during a conversation to the total of 60 seconds? Can she count when the child sings - she didn't. Are interjections to be counted? Thanks for any input. Erin
