Lisa, I agree with your statement regarding the role of bilingualism on the symptoms of cluttering.Dalton and Hardcastle(1993) suggested assessing PWC’s first languages in order to adjust treatment approaches to their clients’ symptoms. They also recommended looking at the relationship between the types of disfluencies demonstrated by speakers of different languages and the characteristics of those languages. According to Hernandez (2009), switching between languages results in a more effortful cognitive retrieval process. Such increased demands may result in changes in symptoms of cluttering.
