Hello Mitch: Thank you for sharing your personal experiences with cluttering. Some SLPs and researchers hypothesize that the an efficient, if not "powerful," way to get at cluttering is in fact to help with one's focus and ability to organize thoughts. Of course, thoughts are actualized through one's language (and speech). It may be that the disfluencies of interjections, incomplete phrases, revisions reflect the phenonmena you are addressing that underpin the formulation of thought into language. For now, at least, an astute language clinician with experience in working on narratives (i.e., weaving a larger chunck of talk as explaining how to scramble eggs or what you did over the weekend) is likely to set you on the right path. If you can locate an SLP specializing in cluttering, so much the better. In the meantime, an upcoming book by Ward and Scaler Scott contains a chapter on therapy in which I discuss a number of simple yet hopefully effective therapy activities (e.g., outlining your talk first). Hope this helps. Florence
