Thank you for your question, Tanya. The decision as which language to use for a bilingual speaker can be an important factor for a successful therapy outcome. I would use a secondary language for the client (1) if he or she prefers it, (2) if symptoms of cluttering decrease when using it, and (3) when therapy goals are more readily achieved in the secondary language. If necessary, and if the clients ask to be able to improve their use of the primary language, we work on transferring the new skills to the primary language. I hope this helps. Isabella Reichel
