The question of prevalence of cluttering is very intriguing. In Holland we are doing a prevalence study among 400 students right now. These are all students who did not ask for treatment. One of the striking and preliminary results of this study is that around 9% of University students get more than normal complaints about their disfluencies or intelligibility. Does that mean that 9% of this student population clutters? No, not at all. It does mean that being disfluent or unitelligible can be related to age. It also means that we have to be very careful who we call a PWC and who not. Right now the prevalence of cluttering in a student population is not clear at all. Our results will take a year to be fished. I would like to invite everyone to use our scientifically based methodology when performing a prevalence study, so studies can be compared world wide. Prevalence of cluttering in adolesence or elderly persons is also very important to know more about. What is known world wide about prevalence in these age groups?
