Facial expression is not necessarily an indicator of cluttering. We focused on facial expression with Claudia only as it relates to helping her learn nonverbal indications that a listener had not understood her. So, a quizzical look or shoulder shrug in the United States is a common way that we let our speaking partner know that we aren't sure what they are talking about. Claudia, probably related to her autism, had difficulty interpreting facial expressions. So, this is one specific goal we addressed to help her make conversational repairs when she was not clear.
