Monica, I often look at the social impact. I also look at the opinion of the client themselves. I believe in the concept of ethnographic interviewing. In teh concept of ethnographic interview, the client is the expert. We need to know what is important to them and what is affecting their life. The simple solution....ask! In addition though, we need to do our job. A complete and thorough assessment of all communication skills is the key. It is better to spend a week or two on an accurate assessment than spending a year or two working on the wrong things in therapy. Thanks for the question. Sincerely, John Tetnowski
