Spontaneous variant of American English speech (compared to British)is characterized by the higher frequency of reductions (especially, diphthongs and triphthongs), and a narrower range of pitch modifications - the combination which produces the effect of the monotonous high rate speech. For the Russian language, the length of the vowels is the most important prosodic element; however, vowel ommissions are compensated by the variations in prosodic structure, and the main communicative function is maintained through the suprasegmental area. Ukrainian language is characterized by the lesser degree of vowel reduction and wider range intonational patterns, thus, producing the effect of the slower, melodic speech while retaining similar to Russian rate. Cluttering might reflect the same tendencies.
