That is a very good question. I have no empirical data to say one way or another. However, I believe perception at an individual level is extremely important to developing an awareness of and determination of atypical communication within a culture. Awareness of communication disorders in Hispanic cultures or any other culture does not always relate to improved or increased treatment options. Many things would play a part in the attitudes toward and treatment of communication disorders, such as severity levels or availability of services.
