Self awareness and being able to self correct are very important exercises. Speech rate exercises has also helped. The Speecheasy device seems to help in all these areas. The important thing to remember for slp's, IMO, is that the slp needs to understand that there are usually several underlying issues that contribute to the cluttering. These issues need to be worked on one at a time, but yet at the same time - basically understanding of how it affects the entire picture. I would love to see more social "training" from the slps - ie how to self advocate, more conversational exercises, etc. But I do understand that isnt, per se, an slps job, but more for a social group environment (which btw, is not easily found).
