Hi. Thanks for checking out my paper. Cluttering doesnt affect other areas. Its the other way around - other things contribute to the Cluttering. Just like stuttering, its is extremely rare to be a 100% PWS or PWC. I think that stat is like 1 or 2 % of the population is purely a PWC or PWS. People who clutter usually have several other underlying issues that need to be addressed. Thats why as an slp, its is important to identify these areas and when working on them, you keep the whole picture in mind. Once these issues are managable, so is the cluttering. On that note, my sons underlying issues as per the SLP who diag'd my son - he has a speech disorder and a fluency disorder. These problems are further exasperated by various underlying linguistic and cognitive disturbances. His audiological report indicated mild to moderate receptive language deficit (decreased understanding of spatial and quantity concepts), a moderate to severe expressive language deficit (used only a few real words, not imitating when asked. From his current slp - The use of phrasing and Delayed Auditory feedback using the SpeechEasy device in the sessions has worked to attend to his speech and self correct. From my point of view, sitting in the SpeechEasy eval, it was a noticable difference in less 'mess ups', better monitoring of rate, he was able to repeat longer more complex sentences, and better self awareness. This is for both reading and speaking. It was not a night and day difference, but a noticable one. We are currently going thru the process of attaining a SpeechEasy, but we are trying to get the insurances to pay for the device. The slp says its a longshot to zilch, but will give it a month or 2 before we pay out of pocket. Once we get the device, we will have him gradually where it, like just in class at first. Id hate for him to lose a $5000 device. Thanks again for checking out my paper and the positive comments. Good luck on your graduation!
