Dear Carol, Thank you for your intrest and response. I want to make it absulutely clear to you and everyone that there is no evidence at all for language production disorders in PWC. What can happen in a person with cluttering is that language production is more difficult in running speech, but test scores (without time limitations) are within norms. In many PWC language production is good in slower rate, writing or retelling a story. These are indications that the speed of delivery complicates adequate langauge production. Another indication for this is the temporal benefit PWC can have from heightened auditory feedback. When you speak you listen to what you say. When a lot of attention capacity is needed for language production not enough capacity is left for auditory feedback of your own speech. When the feedback is heightened with for instance a 'whisper phone" more capacity is left for speech production and monitoring language and speech. When you speak alone, attention is pointed on your own story. When you have a group talk, attention is needed for the others as well. It is possible that this shared attention is part of the explanation why talking at the dinner table is more complicated than for instance talking on the phone.
