I found your paper very validating to my thoughts of the need for a blend of disciplines when it comes to stuttering, my strength. In my recent journey of stuttering across america, i found that so much of my social work practice was utilized in running groups, validation of attendees, motivational sessions, and suicidal ideation and assessment. I am also a part of the amazing Our Time Theatre Company, an artisitic home for stutterers. We perfomed last june and i must say, that was such a beautiful experience. Again, we practiced some social work principles thoughout the year during rehearsals. We provided a safe, peer, support group environment, stuttering was accepted and allowed (a requirement). I am hoping that your word get out into the world and reach other disciplines so that SLP's can receive the support that is needed. A parellel process to a person who stutters like me who couldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for the support.

I agree that research is also in demand. Reaching out to the larger organizations and having them be the voice to the stuttering community is helpful. I know that most of us do not like to be "tested" and so if the research would entail a force that fosters human respect and is clear that it is crucial for their measures, then i believe that we can play ball. Peace and luv
