Elizabeth,

First let me say that I LOVED the performance the Our Time Theater Company did at the NSA conference. I especially liked your performance as the mother with (Zied?) Your point about the importance of what you do as a social worker and about research subjects was quite interesting. You are correct, if we are to enlist PWS as "subjects" we must help them to realize we see them as "humans" first. This will not only help researchers recruit more subjects, but it will provide (in my opinion) an opportunity to get a clearer view of how stuttering is operating in that particular "human being". On the other side of the issue however, is that one needs to keep the "subject" in the dark about what is going on in the project. If there is not research/publications concerning how to balance the issues of the research project with the humanity of the subject, this would make some fascinating work. If it is out there, it needs to be presented in doctoral programs.
