Dear Mr. Hicks,

I just read "The Gift of Stuttering" and have a question. As a beginning clinician and speech pathology graduate student, I would like to know how you feel about implementing your thought of “feeling the fear and doing it anyway” into therapy. I am a clinician in a stuttering therapy group, and am wondering if this should be a theme for one of our sessions. Do you think it would help my clients to try a “do it anyway” approach, or would that defeat the purpose of therapy and the goal of fluent speech?

Thank you,

Jessica Fair
