I had the honor and privilege of meeting Heather Whitestone, the deaf Miss America once, and talking with her for quite some time. Besides being absolutely radiantly beautiful - you can NOT believe - she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She is NOT your "standard Miss America." She is so absolutely unique. I could listen to her distinctive "accent" for hours. Even her voice is beautiful! You talk about a GIFT! She is one of my heros.
Good luck with your son. But with a mother like you he won't need much luck. <smile>
