Dear Olivia:

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the possible involvement of neurotransmitters and stuttering. Over the years a number of studies have investigated the role of different neurotransmitters, mainly focussing on dopamine. May I suggest that you consult the Pub Med site and type in "neurotransmitters AND stuttering" or "dopamine AND stuttering". That will give you a list of the relevant studies. The findings, in general, are certainly strongly suggestive that neurotransmitters are implicated in the production of stuttering.
