Boy, this is a "touchy question." One thing I like about the internet is that it is here that minds meet and all the "externals" are totally irrelevant. Nobody cares what I look like, how old I am, what physical limitations I may have, etc.

I have met many email aquaintences who are nothing at all as I imagined them. In person I sometimes had to get to know them all over again, because they seemed like different people.

What was it like when you first met in person? Did you have an agreement, like in the movie "You've Got Mail," how to recognize each other? or what to do if expectations were not fulfilled? If the person was not someone you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, do you think you could have maintained the email friendship you had established? (Obviously that wasn't the case - how wonderful! - but I'm just curious).
