Hi Judy,
In our case, the actual physical appearance question never seemed to enter into the equation. My photograph was already there on my Yahoo profile, so Chris had a reasonable idea what I looked like, even though I had a little more hair then! I think Chris was a little more nervous about sending me her photograph, but neither of us ever really thought about the way we looked being a stumbling block to our relationship. The "will she/will he like me" question I guess is there in some form, but I think we enjoyed each other's company so much online that we couldn't wait to meet. From my point of view it took the encouragement of a few good friends like Glo, Mario and Debbie to actually get me to fly over there - Chris was wonderful in that respect, she never put any pressure on me to make the trip. Fortunately, one day I had a rush of blood to the head and booked the plane tickets - then there was no turning back!
What I remember most about seeing Chris for the first time in Boston was her wonderful smile. When we met fo that first time it really was as if known each other for the whole of our lives.
