Dear Elspeth,

Thanks so much for your post, and for your good wishes. I agree with your comment "everything happens for a reason".The coincidences that have led Tobe and me to where we are today have made me believe strongly in fate. I think part of what helped 'fate' along though was that we both allowed ourselves to be guided by our hearts and instincts. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if we hadn't been so 'tuned in' to the series of coincidences leading up to our first meeting, or if we had allowed the practical aspects (distance, etc.) of an international relationship to discourage us from having that first meeting. In our case, and certainly in Liv's and Paul's I think, some of the situations we thought were very unfortunate at the time ended up being the best possible things that could have happened to us. Had we not been strugging with some aspect of our lives, it is unlikely that any of us would have found Stutteringchat or Friendship Center. It's sometimes so hard to see the good that can come out of a bad experience (losing one's job for example,or coping with any significant loss), yet several of the papers in this conference offer proof that happiness and success can be just around the corner when we least expect them.

Our best wishes to you!

Chris and Tobe
