At the World Congress in Johannesburg I met many African people who stutter and I was surprised to still meet two groups of people, white and black. At the banquet we saw some guys standing in the doorway, not knowing where to sit and as we asked them to join us, they said "Can we?" in a very surprised way. "Of course" we said "we are people dealing with stuttering and we're the ones who are the guests here in your part of the world". We had a great evening, singing and dancing to African music, learning African songs. I was shown the area by a new African friend and I was standing on my seat dancing and singing with the choir. What an experience!

We ARE all different. Color of skin, stuttering of fluent, living in a city or in a village, three kids or no kids, male or female. It's the diversity of people that makes this world interesting. And we all have one thing in common: we all stutter or are in some way involved in stuttering. So, aren't we a great bunch of people?!

I'm proud of what you have accomplished as you're not just dealing with treatment of people who stutter, but also with discrimination ADDED to the myths around people who stutter.

I wish you all the luck and support in the future

Anita
