I think we should be careful about tying principles of stuttering theory and treatment to the concepts of a particular religion. People who stutter have many different religions, and many have no religion. We need to be careful about implying that one particular religion has most of the answers with regard to stuttering - this can be disrespectful to readers who don't share in those particular religious beliefs.
