Moussa,

I agree totally with my good friend Bernie Weiner. It was a totally fascinating paper. I too was moved by your stories of Henry and Poda. We had a man in our stuttering support group here in Texas actually commit suicide because he couldn't deal with life and his severe stuttering any longer. What a tragedy... And Henry could just as easily have been going to school right here in Texas with the teasing and bullying. Life is similar everywhere, isn't it?

I also had to smile somewhat at the "poll" you took of the 10 ATHs regarding the causes of stuttering. You know, if you didn't know about modern science those thoughts are not far from the mark about what makes reasonable sense. How often have all of us thought what curse have we brought on ourselves that caused our stuttering? Or I was sick with XXX disease in my childhood, and maybe that caused it... The heredity issue is still under hot debate in the US. Certainly it tends to run in families. Those ATHs may be ignorant of modern scientific explanations, but they certainly are NOT stupid! I think you have very fertile ground to plant the seeds of stuttering understanding, therapy and support there in Burkina Faso.

We are all brothers under the skin, aren't we?

Good luck and please keep us informed of your progress.

Russ
