Enjoyed your thoughts and feelings you express in your paper. Honesty is greatly appreciated!!

I may be in a minority in the field, but there are "TONS" of professionals that don't get it and never will. In every profession, there are many ignorant educators, and our field has not been spared of these types...Those that know must continue to go forward and really educate. The challenge is great.

In my younger years, I ran away and cried when others would comment about my speech, stuttering, and all the fluency shaping/training **** that I was suppose to do. I hated it (all of it) and was made to feel it was all my fault. Anger and resentment grew exceptionally well in this type of environment....

As I got older--into my late teens and early 20's-- I began working with a truly gifted SLP who really helped me learn about stuttering and talking. I also grew to 6'1", 220 lbs, and got "very nasty" when others would start in on the "this is how you are supposed to do it" crap. I let my fists do the talking...Others were forced to "listen" to my response. I felt great kicking the **** out of those others! Fortunately on 2 occasions, the police let me know my "Talking" got me jail time. I could not use my fists as my mouth any more. So I had to develop some other ways to channel my feelings...I try to talk about these things now. Sometimes I get tired of talking, though...

Liked your stuff, Bob.
