I agree that there are a lot of folks in our profession who don't get it - I just thought our colleagues in stuttering were enlightened. ;-)>
Yes, the experiences you talk about describe the "reality of stuttering" that I mention in my essay - the reality that a lot of folks want to ignore or deny because they can't relate to it, or don't understand it, or something. I don't want to suggest that it is the reality for all people who stutter, but it certainly it is the reality for some (perhaps many). And if we ignore that, we are doing those clients a serious disservice.
That's very troubling to me...
