Thanks so very much for your post. I really appreciate it.

I was tempted to reply earlier, but held back because I was afraid that if I did it would be preceived as self-serving. Now that you have sent in your comment, I feel comfortable responding back to you, rather than initiating this.

It will be unfortunate if readers conclude that "fluent SLP's don't or can't get it" due to the comments and beliefs of just a few who don't.... You have listed several normaly fluent slp's who "get it" and there are of course more...

Those of us who teach courses in fluency disorders and stuttering need to do our best to help **all** students, and especially those who do not stutter, to understand not only the behavioral dimensions of stuttering, but also the personal aspects. It is far easier to teach about the behaviors of stutering than it is to teach students about the feelings and attitudes; but it is in our ability to teach the attitudes and feelings that we really do the educational job that needs to be done.
