Wow! This article really opened my eyes. It is hard to believe that there are practicing SLP’s that really don’t “get it” in regards to fluency disorders. I have to wonder how this man or others like him came to their viewpoints. Is this person an actual Speech-Language Pathologist? You describe him in you article as a “behaviorist” and an “alleged fluency expert“. I have to wonder where he got his education or credentials. Are there actually training program out there that condone these viewpoints? It blows my mind that he could be so ignorant, and it frightens me that he may be treating individuals who stutter. I would like to see him achieve 100% fluency. I think you have a lot to offer this field, and your clients and students really are lucky to have a person like you to work with. After all, you really know what they are going through. Thank you for the wonderful article.
