Hi Bob, Don't you dare ever give up the fight. You are one of the good guys, along with Steve Hood, Walt Manning, Rick Merson ( from Royal Oak, Mi.), and all the other SLP's who give us people who stutter hope and courage. As the cochairman of one of the most successful NSA chapters in the country ( yes, I am bragging), I have often questioned if I should be a leader of our group, because I stutter more at our meetings than in the "outside" world. I stutter like hell. But, I have come to realize, that my stuttering only makes me that much more of a leader. I can totally understand what everyone in our chapter has gone through. Our SLP sponsor, Dr. Rick Merson, totally "gets it." Thank goodness. Not once has he suggested that someone more fluent cochair our group. And for this, I am grateful. Your comment about being a role model really got to me. I think that people who stutter can be great role models for other people who stutter. It just makes ME try all that much harder with my group. Thanks for your great paper. And I think that more SLPs now "get it" thanks to people like you who keep hammering on those doors.

Bernie Weiner (Cochairman, Royal Oak, Mi. NSA Chapter of the Year for 2002). Shameless plug here. :-)
