Dear Lee, I found your paper to be very informative. I am happy to hear that the standards for speech-language pathologists in regards to fluency is changing. It is true that many of SLP’s graduating from training programs may never have had the opportunity to work with a client with a fluency disorder. Hopefully, these new standards will allow for increased training in specific fluency enhancing techniques such as easy speaking voice, smooth transitions etc. If new graduates are expected to teach individuals these techniques, then we need to know ourselves how to do them well. Like you said, we not only need knowledge but skill as well.
