Sarah,

Thanks so much for taking time to share your valuable thoughts and views. You highlighted perfectly the key ingredients of my paper that relate to "normalcy." As you noted, I made numerous comparisons between stutterers and non-stutterers, in which we share so much in common with our fundamental motivations, desires and challenges. Every individual deals with "stuttering" -- it's just another human struggle dressed up as something else with a different face. If we want acceptance, we need to live our life on the same common ground as all others. It's our choice, as you reiterated, to either shelter ourselves only in the world of stuttering or to take our stuttering with us out into life's mainstream, letting it be our "passenger, not the driver." Personally, I've found the latter to be an incredibly more satisfying journey!

Sarah, thanks again for your enthusiastic interest and good luck in your work as a SLP!

Chris
