Nita, you raised a provocative question and one, unfortunately, I have no appropriate professional expertise to address. This might be an excellent question to ask the panel of experts in the initial part of the ISAD conference. I'd encourage you to do so.
From a lay viewpoint, I believe that the impact that any type of mood-altering substance (alcohol, medication, etc.) has on a stutterer's socialization confidence and comfort is most likely directly correlated to the same statistical results of the general population. However of interest, stutterers often report totally different impacts from alcohol, for example, on their stuttering. For some, consumption of alcohol improves their fluency, while others reports it makes their fluency worse. Go figure? Same ol' stuttering issues -- inconsistency!!
I'd be anxious to see what the panel of speech professionals would say about your Paxil example. Excellent issue. Good luck!
