Thank you. Your paper details what it took me many years to learn. As a Speech Pathologist and a PWS I have given many inservices, classes, etc. When I was young(?)I always thought it was necessary to give my audience an education about my stuttering, why I became an SLP, and even tell a joke or two about it. But, you are right. Nobody wants to hear about it. Now, I acknowledge my stuttering in my intro and leave it at that. Another interesting point is that I have often wondered why my friends have not been more interested in stuttering (since it has always been such an important part of my life). The response when asked - Your stuttering? I don't even notice it (And I am not a particularly silent or mild stutterer)!!!!
