thanks for responding. I'm glad that this point has been received. The rule is that the phenomenon itself can always claim a superior truth value than any theory about the phenomenon under consideration. But that doesn't mean that theories are in vain. Theories can be very powerful, not because they intrinsically true, but because and as long as they are useful. If you want to understand the bridge between Zen and my observations please consult Ratcliff/Ratcliff: Thinking Zen. It's out of print, unfortunately, but I trust it's in your library.

Yes, teach you client about normal speech and investigate his/her stuttering behavior with him/her very thouroughly as close to the real thing as possible.
