My name is Kristin Nestor, and I am a graduate student in speech-language pathology at West Virginia University. In our speech clinic this semester, I am treating a college-age student who stutters. I learned from my Advanced Stuttering course that stuttering tends to decrease when the stutterer "accepts" his/her disfluencies. According to your paper, stuttering also decreases as self-esteem increases. Do you have any suggestions as to how to improve self-esteem in therapy sessions?
