Ms. McIntyre, Thanks for your post-- you bring up some great questions re: support for women who stutter and for spouses/partners. Unfortunately, there are no support groups that are specifically for WWS as far as I know. Since women are a minority in the stuttering population, it may even be difficult to find enough members for support groups. The workshop that we gave at the National Stuttering Association re: WWS was our first attempt to get women who stutter together. Nora O'Connor had a wonderful idea when she proposed that we start a listserve for WWS. She started it and I'm not sure of the status right now. Nora, can you comment? This would be a great way for women who stutter to communicate. Having said that, I also think that the general NSA chapters are also a great resource for women who stutter. Finally, I am not aware of any support groups for partners of people who stutter. It is an interesting idea though. But I do think it may be helpful for many people who stutter to bring their significant others to NSA meetings so they can learn more about stuttering and the thoughts/emotions that often go hand-in-hand with stuttering.

Thanks again for your questions, Brett
