Thank you for your comments about Culture/Environment. From my experience the best way to deal with someone's refusal to seek treatment for themselves or for a family member due to cultural barriers is through education.

There are many helpful publications written English and other languages that you can order through the Stuttering Foundation of America http://www.stutteringhelp.org/ or (800)992-9392

Once you've made every effort to educate the parent about the true facts of the disorder you hope they will be able to make an informed decision that is in the best interest of the child. The parent may need support as well and can receive that from self help organizations such as FRIENDS: The Association for Young People who Stutter http://www.friendswhostutter.org or the National Stuttering Association http:/www.nsastutter.org

Good luck!
