Self-acceptance is much easier for small children if they get proper guidance and support. If kids learn that stuttering is not that big a deal and that they are accepted whether or not they're fluent, they will not grow up with the fear and shame that has taken some of us decades to overcome. Exposure to adult stutterers lets kids know that stuttering need not be a barrier to success when they grow up. If you want to see some well-adjusted kids who stutter, come to a NSA convention or youth day.
