Hi Patti, Russ, Mike, Jim,

Thank you for these papers. The fact that you presented as a group makes me think that advertising may be much easier when done with a Friend. What I especially liked was the overall message that there are many ways to accomplish advertising. The students I see as an SLP NEVER want to do a class presentation about stuttering! I continue to mention this challange sometimes, wondering if any of them will be so brave. One 3rd grade student recently put a letter in his teacher's mailbox which described his speech. But usually its the mothers who guide the experience of advertising when the right moment arises, e.g, a peer asks about the child's speech. So, your paper will help me explain to parents and children that they can advertise in any way that feels right to them.

Now for my question....do you think there is a hierarchy of advertising tasks that an SLP could help a client move along? Is it that advertising presents the same emotional challange regardless of how it is done? Or, is some kinds of advertising easier than others?

p.s. I appreciate Mike's very assertive style of writing. I remember an article he wrote about a phone call with a prospective data, Judy. Some boys I see tend to respect a more in-your-face kind of approach. Punching out a bully behind the school is a legitimate form of advertising for them and I have to to respect that.
