Hi Claude,
One further (but very important) point.
You referred to the fact that my wife had always made a practice of assisting me in certain speaking situations. When I decided to assume responsibility for these tasks, I explained the reason for my action.
In the absence of an explanation, she may well have felt redundant or unloved.
