Hi Peter,

Your post was very inspiring. How did you feel after making the calls to the people that you might otherwise have avoided?

I, too, used to encounter difficulty in explaining complicated subjects. My experience at the three public speaking clubs to which I belong has proved invaluable in improving my presentation skills. It has also given me the confidence to stand up anywhere and speak without fear.

I wish you every success in your forthcoming presentation. May I respectfully suggest that you might wish to consider practising creative visualization leading up to the event. I have also found this technique to be of benefit.

It involves creating a mental picture of what you intend to do. Imagine yourself at the location; hear the cacophony; 'smell' the atmosphere and 'feel' the audience. Then see yourself speaking in the manner that you would wish to make the presentation. Re-play the episode over in your mind regularly prior to the important day.

Always conclude with the positive outcome that you desire and don't entertain negative thoughts. You may find them creeping in but you can quickly despatch them to the trash can.

I'll be interested to learn what happens.

Thank you for your generous observations.

Kindest regards

Alan
