Hi Kim and Katie,

It is difficult for some PWS (and persons who do not stutter) to expand their comfort zones and take risks. They may need encouragement

I have found that they are more likely to attempt something new when supported by others. I regularly accompany other PWS out onto the streets (and into other public places) to provide that support. Two days ago, I was present when another PWS spoke to more than 200 complete strangers over a period of about four hours.

He started apprehensively but progressively gained in confidence. Some attempts were not as successful as others, but I encouraged him to focus on the positive and exclude the negative.

Kindest regards

Alan

If things do not work out as they planned, then they are not alone.
