Alan- What an inspiring paper!!! Stepping out of one's comfort zone is so important... it causes us to grow and change as a person, and when applied to stuttering, it makes a huge difference. I am a Graduate Student at Central Michgan University and am currently taking a stuttering course. Today we talked about confronting our fears and how we go about that. I am terrified of spiders, so we talked about how I would have to sit in a room with one in a clear plastic case, and eventually get closer, and maybe even touch it! This terrified me! But I know that it would make me that much stronger, overcoming my fear. I can only imagine how difficult that must be for a PWS, doing all the things that they hate for the greater good of their communication and peace of mind. What do you suggest to be the best way to help a PWS begin to confront their fears and leave their comfort zone?
