Dear Tara

Thank you for your compliment.

We have not done an official survey. Maybe a good idea for a follow up. But we still are in contact with many of the former delegates. I can give you lots of examples of young people who have made major changes after attending the youth meeting. Some of them are now board members on their national stuttering asociation. Some of them have changed jobs or studies, as they say they finally dared to make the big step. Some went back to school as their confidence level has raised. Some of them are now travelling, working or doing projects in other countries, having to use a foreign langues. One of them started a new self help group in a developing country. And as said, next week some of them are representing their country at the ELSA seminar. And ELSA has had three delegates as board members!

So yes, we have really seen people change and we like to stay in contact. Like during the world congress in Belgium in 2001 we had a special evening for former delegates to the youth meetings.

If you want to know more about youth activities in the States you might want to learn more about the NSA and about FRIENDS.

Good luck!

Anita Blom
