Dr. Breitenfeldt, I am a graduate student currently enrolled in a stuttering seminar course. I found your story to be quite helpful as I am beginning to gain an understanding of some of the many obstacles and frustrations that many people who stutter must overcome throughout their lives. I also found your story to be a beneficial supplement to your chapter that I have read in the Advice To Those Who Stutter publication. It provided me with a "picture" of the person giving the advice, something that I had wondered about many of the authors as I read the publication.

One qustion that arose while I was reading about your odyssey was whether or not your motivation for success had the support of other individuals in your life? You discussed various obstacles that you had to overcome related to your stuttering, and I was wondering if you had the encouragement of friends and family to pursue the successes that you have achieved, or if your motivation stemmed from more of a personal level?

Thanks, Samantha Schindle
